Club 42

Logo, Illustration, & Print Design – Centercode – Lead Graphic Designer

This collection of custom illustrations was designed as a set of gifts for the 2024 Centercode Club 42 employee Disney trip, and they were wicked fun to create. The main challenge? Developing “Disney Theme Park”-inspired employee swag without incorporating anything that could even remotely allude to intellectual property or copyright issues. Because, let’s be real—that’s a legal headache every designer would rather avoid. At the same time, the designs couldn’t lean too heavily into a Disney theme, since not every employee might want to wear or use something overtly park-related year-round.

The perfect solution? We took inspiration from the iconic 1955–56 park attraction posters by Bjorn Aronson & Sam McKim, crafting some uniquely Centercode illustration concepts in a similar retro-futuristic style. The result: a unique, nostalgic, and stylish design set that pays homage to the golden age of theme park art.

“Visit The Centerverse!”

I wanted to make sure this concept really embodied the retro-futuristic-vintage-disneyworld direction. So I started sketching with one intriguing idea in mind: What if Centercode were a 1950s theme park? I ended up taking the core concept of their product (a beta testing and feedback collection platform) and recreating it as a rollercoaster ride that ends in a successful product launch.

The next item in the gift set was the backpack that the operations team picked out. They wanted to make sure everyone had a decent bag for the employee Disneyland trip, and it also needed to fit in with our (now completed) t-shirt design.

I realized our new “Centerverse Themepark” would probably have a pretty sweet gift shop, which inspired a simplified logo-style badge design.

VIP Ticket Design

The best employees need to stay hydrated.

Especially when you bring them to Disneyland for the day! A good water bottle was another item on the list of essentials for this set, and we needed a vertical layout for optimal print placement.

Since Club 42 is a reward program for employees with the top performance reviews – we decided they needed a VIP pass for the “Centerverse”.  This vintage inspired ticket design ended up being the perfect fit.

Club 42 Logo Design

While the theme for Club 42 changes each year, we knew from the start that it needed a consistent, recognizable logo. The name itself was inspired by Disney’s legendary Club 33, known for its exclusive perks and rewards, combined with 42—the answer to life, the universe, and everything. To capture that blend of exclusivity and fun, I leaned into the art nouveau and art deco aesthetics that defined the park’s early days. The result is a logo that feels like it belongs in an elite lounge experience, while still staying true to Centercode’s unique brand identity.
